31st March 2009

Every year Dublin City Council selects a book as the centrepiece of the annual "One City: One Book" scheme. The idea is that for the month of April all of the cultural events in the city are linked to the selected book. This year's is Dracula by Dublin-born writer Bram Stoker.

Rather brilliantly, it is sponsored by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.

They write: "While we prefer a friendlier and more welcoming - not to mention pain-free - approach to taking your blood, we are delighted to be part of this initiative."
